Betty Jo Spigner Starnes, 88, of Cayce, died Friday, February 05, 2016. Born November 21, 1927, in Cayce, she was a daughter of the late John Maynard Spigner, Sr. and Beulah Yates Spigner. After graduating from Brookland Cayce High School, she attended business college and, for forty-six years, worked for the food brokerage company, Simmons and Clary. She married the late George Price in 1959, who passed away seven years later. For twenty-one years, she was married to her second husband, the late James W. Starnes. James and Betty Jo enjoyed their friends and activities at the Lourie Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Cayce.

She is survived by her sister, Barbara Ware, niece and special caregiver, Jodie Leaphart (Steve); nieces, Gwen Keeney (Ricky), JoAnn Hoover (Ben), and Wendy Turner (Donnie); nephews, Ronnie Spigner (Chris), Brad Ware and Clay Ware. In addition to her parents and husbands, Betty Jo was preceded in death by her brothers, George Spigner, J. M. Spigner, and Sam Spigner.
The funeral service for Mrs. Starnes will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, February 8th, at First Baptist Church of Cayce, with Dr. Pete Cassidy officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
