Obituary

Betty Gibson Trotter, 91, of Concord, NC, and formerly of Cayce, SC, wife of the late J. R. "Bob" Trotter, died August 8, 2015. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ray Gibson and Lillie Scroggie Gibson. She attended Columbia High School and was a 1945 graduate of Columbia College. After college she went to work for Eastman Kodak Laboratories in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where the Atom Bomb was made. She was a member of First Baptist Church of West Columbia, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She and her husband lived in Cayce on K Avenue for over 40 years.

Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Debbie Trotter of Concord, NC, Ray and Becky Trotter of Lexington, SC, and Rob and Billie Trotter of Hilton Head, SC; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jane G. Bracy.

The funeral service for Mrs. Trotter will be held 2 o'clock, Friday, August 14th in the Chapel of Hope at Southland Memorial Gardens, 820 West Dunbar Road, West Columbia, SC. The family will greet friends following the service. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of West Columbia, 400 State Street, West Columbia, SC. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
