Beverly Jean Mascari, 61, of Columbia, died Saturday, February 6, 2021. Born June 27, 1959, in Columbus, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Franklin J. Cross and Margaret Fugate Cross.
She met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Steven A. Mascari, in Columbus, OH. They discovered one another as they worked together at a restaurant. Steven and Beverly enjoyed 42 years of marriage together. As Steven served in the US Army, the family resided in Ft. Hood, TX, Reynoldsburg, OH, and eventually settled in Columbia, SC. Beverly was employed as a school secretary for the Department of Defense until her retirement.
She enjoyed traveling to flea markets and yard sales, always shopping for great deals. Beverly loved collecting many items, however her favorite was SMURFS. She had an entire room in her house dedicated to them.
Surviving in addition to her husband are her children, Steven Mascari, Jr. of Simponsville, SC and Jason Mascari (fiancé, Casey Pool) of Reynoldsburg, OH; grandchildren, Ella and Luca Mascari; sisters, Jane Mason (Larry) of Reynoldsburg, OH, Linda Norris of Reynoldsburg, OH, and Holly Cross of Thornport, OH; as well as two nieces and two nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 7 o'clock, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC.
