Billy Donald "Bill" Starnes, 81, of Winnsboro, died Monday, September 2, 2013. Born in Aiken County, SC on March 9, 1932, he was a son of the late Sullie and Julia Gantt Starnes. Bill loved farming and hunting, and was a long time member of Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Edge Starnes; brothers, Sullie Starnes, Jr. of Augusta, GA, Tom (Joyce) Starnes of Martinez, GA, Johnny (Betty Jane) Starnes of Columbia; sisters, Betty (Jerry) B'Rells of Lexington, Pat (Billy) Wells of Chapin, Judy (Doug) Fabel of Winnsboro; 25 nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, A.B. Eargle; and sister-in-law, Betty Jo Starnes. In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his brother, James Starnes; sisters, Eulie Wooten and Roberta Eargle; sister-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Starnes; and brother-in-law, Joe Wooten.

The funeral service for Mr. Starnes will be held Noon, Thursday, September 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Dr, Columbia, with The Rev. Charles Wilbanks and The Rev. Bill Lynch officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Gardens of Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock.
