Blanche Cudd Gibbes, 97, of Columbia, died peacefully on March 1, 2018. Born August 28, 1920 in Spartanburg, she was a daughter of the late Blanche Cudd Weston and John James Cudd. Mrs. Gibbes was married to Louis LeConte Gibbes from 1942 until his death in 1996. She attended Sophie Newcomb and graduated from Converse College. Mrs. Gibbes was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral.

She is survived by her children, Leila Gibbes Williams (Christopher), Jane Alan Gibbes Kapp (Lloyd), Louis LeConte Gibbes Jr. (Lynn), George Felder Gibbes (Ethel) and Elizabeth Gibbes deLoach (John); ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, John James Cudd Jr.; and sister, Alleen Cudd Burgess.

A memorial service will be held at 4 o'clock, Monday, March 5th at the Chapel of the Holy Spirit at Still Hopes Episcopal Retirement Community, 1 Still Hopes Drive, West Columbia. A reception will follow in the Guignard Mansion at Still Hopes. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
