Mrs. Brenda B. Blizard, 84, of Columbia, SC, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. She was born on May 23, 1940, to the late Cramer and Thelma Blaney in Morgantown, West Virginia. She attended West Virginia University briefly and then took a detour to raise a family. She then proceeded to graduate from the University of South Carolina with a master's in education. She had a long and accomplished career at the University of South Carolina.

Having won the 1940 Parent Lottery, Brenda remained strong, loving, and dedicated of her large and extended family. She was the backbone of the family. Brenda's passions went beyond family. She found inspirations in her faith, her love of flowers, birds, and especially, USC Football. She was a profound inspiration to all who knew her. Her playful spirit will be remembered by all.

Survivors include her children, Thomas Campbell (Cheryl), Kim Hamilton (Foster), James Campbell, Kelly Cornelius (Myron), Craig Campbell, Jefferson Blizard (Shauna), and son-in-law, Peter Camelo; grandchildren, Michelle Harris (Tyler), Crystal Ficker (Nick), Alyssa Valentine (Michael), Foster Hamilton V, Coby Cornelius, Cameron Cornelius, Caymon Reed, Elizabeth Blizard, Luke Camelo, Ellie Sims (Nick), and Jack Camelo; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and one more on the way; brother, Martin Blaney (Bobbie); nephews and niece, Ian Blaney (Ashley), Jordan Blaney (Adriene), and Emma Blaney (Chris); and her son of the heart, Miga Tsgemid. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents listed above; her husband of 25 years, Ted Blizard; and her child, Elizabeth Camelo.

A visitation for the family to receive friends will be held at 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel 5202 Colonial Drive Columbia, SC 29203.
