Brenda Price Brown, 74, of Columbia, died Tuesday, November 22, 2016. Born in Davidson, NC on July 18, 1942 she was a daughter of the late Samuel William Price and Minnie Alice Price. Mrs. Brown attended University of Virginia and University of South Carolina. In addition to raising her sons, Clayton and Hayes, she spent her time volunteering for Christian prison ministry Kairos, Friendship Center of Columbia, Symphony League of the SC Philharmonic, Forest Lake Women's Club, and was active when a member of Kathwood Baptist Church. When they went off to school Brenda went to work with the South Carolina office of the Special Olympics and was later Historic Property Events Coordinator with The Historic Columbia Foundation.
Survivors include her sons, Clayton A. Brown of Columbia, Hayes S. Brown of Atlanta; grandchildren, Norah Hayes Brown, and Kenneth Owens Brown of Atlanta; sister and best friend, Rochelle Price Alexander, and her husband, Hugh "Murk" Alexander, of Columbia; nephews, Michael W. McGill, Dean K. Faulkenberry, David Faulkenberry, Mark W. Ullman, Jr., and Glenn Brown; nieces, Melissa McGill, Olivia Ullman McLaughlan, Sara Alice Faulkenberry Beaver, and Grace Daniel Faulkenberry.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, C. Alvin Brown; a sister, Alice Price Harris; a brother, Samuel W. Price; a nephew, Mark P. Faulkenberry.
A service will be held 11 o'clock, Tuesday, November 29th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Friendship Center MIRCI at
