Brenda Padgett Bush, 72, of Columbia, gained her heavenly wings Wednesday, May 24, 2023. Born May 26, 1950, in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Laury Whitman and Virginia Livingston Padgett. Brenda served her community through her work as a Registered Nurse at Baptist Medical Center for over 38 years. A devout Christian, she attended Hope Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Brenda loved to fish, spend time outdoors, and be with her dog, Sophie.

She is survived by her husband of 40 years, George L. Bush; daughter, Gabrielle Bush Scott (Jeff) of Blythewood; granddaughter Charlotte Scott; brothers and sisters, Barbara Corley, Johnny Padgett, Ralph Padgett, Leon Padgett, Steve Padgett, Marty Padgett, Willie Padgett; aunt, Sarah Lou Getz. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sisters and brothers, Ernie Phillips, Paul Padgett, David Padgett, Gary Padgett and Judy Hicks.

A memorial service will be held Sunday, May 28, 2023, at 3 o'clock at Hope Baptist Church, 2117 Clemson Road, Columbia, SC 29229. The family will receive friends and family immediately following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Pawsitively Orangeburg to support the Orangeburg County Animal Shelter, 282 Wild Turkey Road, Cameron, SC 29030.
