Brenda Golden Meetze, 69, of West Columbia, died Saturday, January 27, 2018. Born June 21, 1948, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late William Walter Golden and Ferole Colleen Gissendanner Golden.

Mrs. Meetze graduated in 1967 from Eau Claire High School. She worked for the City of Columbia Water Department as a supervisor until her retirement.

Survivors include sons, James Fredrick Meetze (Beverly), and Lee Ashley Meetze (Tammy); grandchildren, Timothy James Meetze (Brittany), James Christian Meetze, Austin Richard Meetze, Brandon McKinley Meetze, Ryan Walter Meetze, and Ashley Elizabeth Meetze; great-grandchildren, Athena Dawn Meetze and Alexander James Meetze; siblings, Harry Golden (Frances), Anne Kinard, Elaine Catoe, Mamie Birt, Linda David (Billy), and Walter Golden (Jayne); sisters-in-law, Virginia Golden and Gwen Meetze; brother-in-law, Tommy Meetze, and many extended family members. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James Berley Meetze

The funeral service for Mrs. Meetze will be held 12 o'clock, Wednesday, January 31st, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Rev. Robert W. Cely, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 11 o'clock.
