Bruce Walker Padgett, 69, peacefully passed away Thursday morning, July 9th, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the daughter of Yvonne Jordan Walker of Isle of Palms, SC, and the late Charles Bruce Walker of Ft. Worth, TX.
She is survived by her husband, Zane, whom she loved as much as life itself; her children, Jennifer Putnam (Kevin) of Campobello, SC, Zane Padgett (Kelsey) of Houston, TX; and her immeasurably adored grandson, Braden Putnam of Campobello, SC. She is also survived by her sisters, Candy Solyan of Charleston, SC, Debbie Manos (Chris) of West Columbia, SC, Lisa Gremlich of Deltona, FL, Elisabeth Walker of Conifer, CO; and her brother, Charles Walker (Kerry) of Houston, TX. Bruce also loved dearly all her nieces and nephews.
Born in Columbia, SC, Bruce graduated from Dreher High School and the University of South Carolina. She worked for the Solicitors' Office for 25 years and enjoyed many wonderful years working with the Richland County Coroner's Office. Bruce had a passion for gardening, decorating, and keeping Zane busy with many projects. She also deeply loved her pets, leaving behind Charley Grace and Dillon, and enjoyed watching British crime shows. Bruce had a zest for life and her sense of humor would brighten everyone's day. Her children will miss the way she could always make them laugh and smile. Most importantly, she wanted everyone to know how much she loved them.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held later. A private family gathering will be held Sunday in her honor. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Circle, Suite 100, Columbia, SC 29210, or any animal welfare organization.
