Burkhard Sauer, 87, of Columbia, died on Monday, December 23, 2024. Born on March 14, 1937, in Germany, he was a son of the late Konrad Sauer and Lina Bergmann Sauer. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a chemical and mechanical engineer. He moved to Blythewood, SC, in 1988 to manage a manufacturing facility, where he also met his wife, Barbara. He enjoyed playing golf, watching college and pro football, and loved animals.

Survivors include his son, Udo Sauer of Switzerland; daughter, Bettina Dillenkofer of Germany; and his grandson, Lukas Dillenkofer of Germany. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Skeen Sauer.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to Amanda, Akilah, Princetta, Shawn, and Skylar of Heart of Hospice for their exceptional care and support of Mr. Sauer.

A private burial will be held at Cabarrus Memorial Gardens in Concord, NC.
