Carl Wesley McRoy, Sr., 77, of Manning, SC, died on Thursday, May 5, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. Born on August 31, 1944 in Manning, SC, he was a son of the late Ernest McRoy and Mary Butler McRoy.

Carl was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Affectionately known as "Poppa", Carl was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt and fish. He was known by his friends and family for building fox pens and judging field trials. Once Carl retired from working in heating and air, he was able to spend more time with his family and being out in the great outdoors.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Nancy Dinkins McRoy; children, Carl Wesley "Wes" McRoy, Jr., Carla McRoy Lindler (Tommy), Christopher Lee McRoy (Julianne); grandchildren, Brittany McRoy, Tyler McRoy, Tanner Lindler, Cohen Lindler, Brianna McRoy, Mason McRoy, Leah McRoy, Wyatt McRoy; great grandchildren, Rylan McRoy, Daphne Jo McRoy; sisters, Loretta Disher and Dottie Carter; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carl was preceded in death by his brothers, John Edward McRoy, James Ernest McRoy, Robert Allen McRoy; sister, Judy McRoy Blanton.

A memorial service will be held 2 o'clock, Monday, May 9, 2022, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext, Columbia, SC. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock. For those unable to attend the service, the family will be receiving friends at the home of Tommy and Carla, 1012 Mineral Creek Ct., Lexington, SC on the days leading up to the service.
