Carlos Wayne Frick, 80, of Columbia, died Friday, March 31, 2017. Born August 11, 1936, in Lexington County, he was a son of the late Jesse Frick and Caro Bouknight Frick.
Mr. Frick was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 54 years, Carolyn George Frick, and father of three children; grandfather of four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He enjoyed being with family, hunting and fishing with his two sons, reading, talking politics, sharing family history with his kids and grandkids, and watching his Clemson Tigers play sports.
Carlos was Project Manager for Boren Clay Products in Pleasant Garden, NC; General Manager for Pee Dee Ceramics, Pee Dee, SC; Plant Manager at Salisbury Brick, Summerville, SC; Plant Project Engineer at Carolina Ceramics, Columbia, SC; Consulting Engineer for the Ceramic/Brick Industry (including Canada and Mexico); and opened Home Inspection Consultants of Columbia in the fall of 1978.
He was a previous member of St. Peters Lutheran Church, Lexington, and Trinity Lutheran Church, Columbia and was an active member of Lutheran Men. Additional memberships include; American Ceramic Society, National Institute of Ceramic Engineers, National Society of Professional Engineers, Charter Member of the National Academy of Building Inspection Engineers, the US Air Force RSM 6913th and IPTAY "Go Tigers".
Survivors include his wife; sons, James Stamey (Cindy Elaine) Frick, Bryan Michael (Michelle Evans) Frick; daughter, Katrina Elaine Frick; grandchildren, Julie Marie Taylor, Jonathan Paul Frick, Abigail Sterling Frick and Taylor Raine Frick; great-grandchildren, Sean Taylor and Jayden Taylor; brother, Doug Frick; and sister, Frieda McDuffie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Frick; a sister, Edith Frick; and nephew, Robert Kline.
The funeral service for Mr. Frick will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, April 6th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Reverend Charles Seastrunk officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 o'clock, and again from 1 until 2 o'clock Thursday at the funeral home
