Carol Ann Byars, 68, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Born on September 26, 1956, in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Seaborn Woodall and Barbara Elizabeth Byars. Ms. Byars retired from BellSouth Telecommunications following a career that spanned over two decades. Over the last 10 years she has been employed with South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles. In her spare time, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Ms. Byars especially enjoyed her bowling alley companions as well as her Canasta and Mahjong groups.

Survivors include her sister, Barbara Byars Lucas (Barry); nephew, Jason Giovannone (Michelle); nieces, Jennifer Andrade (Austin), Melody Lucas (Kevin); great nephews, Elijah Drake Giovannone and Ashton Andrade; great nieces, Bailey Kupec (Austin), Cameron McGlaughlin, Gabriella Holland Giovannone, and Sophia Andrade; best friend, Kathy Minor (Terry) as well as numerous cousins.

The funeral service for Ms. Byars will be held at 10 o'clock, Saturday, April 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC, with Reverend Steven Bouknight officiating. A private burial will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive guests at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 9 o'clock.
