Carol E. Byrd, 70, of Pontiac, died July 7th, 2016. Born in Bennettsville, SC on January 25, 1946, she was a daughter of the late John A. and Maggie Stacy (biological) of Florence, and Gordon and Flauda Harter (adoptive) of Florence. Carol loved antique shopping and spending time in her "cottage" at the beach in Shallotte, NC. Home and family meant the world to her, and she will be deeply missed by those she leaves behind.

Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 54 years, Gene M. Byrd; sons, Mark Byrd (Rachel), and Rick Byrd (Laura); daughters, Daphne Martin (John) and Jody Dean (Rick); brothers, Jennings Stacy of Williston, Larry Stacy of Columbia; sisters, Pat Rogers of Marion, Betty Kinsey of Gaston, Mettie Grice of Marion; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Fuller and brother, Cleveland Stacy.

A memorial service for Mrs. Byrd will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, July 16th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, with The Rev. William Dulaney officiating. The family will greet friends prior to the service, beginning at 1 o'clock.
