Carol Joan Dukes, 61, of Blythewood, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016. Born January 31, 1954 at Ft. McClellan, Anniston, AL, she was the daughter of Samuel Johnson Dukes and Betty Lou Tapp Dukes. Carol was a graduate of Eau Claire High School, Class of 1972, and later attended Midlands Technical College, where she received a degree in Computer Science. Carol spent a number of years in Mableton and Acworth, GA, Minneapolis, MN, and Camden, SC, before returning to Columbia. She worked in the banking industry as a computer programmer.

Survivors include her parents, Sam and Betty Dukes of Blythewood; brothers, Keith Dukes (Diane) of Johns Creek, GA and Craig Dukes (Pam) of Blythewood. Also surviving are four nieces and one nephew.

Carol was predeceased by her grandparents, Peter H. and Katie B. Dukes of Reevesville.

A memorial service for Carol will be held will be held at 2:00 PM, Saturday January 16, 2016 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends at the funeral home at 1:00 PM. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Brenda L. Kneece. Interment in Bryant-Reeves Cemetery, Reevesville, SC, will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Senior Resources, 2817 Millwood Ave, Columbia, SC 29205.
