With hearts full of love, we remember Carol Elizabeth Davis Plott, 93, of Columbia, who passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 29, 2026. Carol was born on January 19, 1933, in Baltimore, Maryland, to the late George Williams Davis III and Dorothy Kathryn Taylor MacBrair Davis. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her brother, Barry Davis.
After completing the Medical Imaging Radiography program at Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine in Baltimore, Carol began her career as an X-ray technician. She took pride in her work and was admired for her calm presence and the real kindness and compassion she offered to everyone she cared for.
Carol married her first husband in 1951 and welcomed a lovely baby boy named Brent in December of 1953.
In 1959, Carol married Donald G. Plott, and for 66 years they shared a life marked by devotion, laughter, and steadfast partnership. In 1960, Carol stepped away from her career to devote herself to their home and family. Together they raised two children—Elizabeth Julia of Nailsworth, England, and Brent Page of Bronx, New York—both of whom she was immensely proud of. Carol embraced motherhood with patience and purpose, always offering encouragement, guidance, and unwavering love as her children grew and followed their own paths.
Carol had a wide circle of interests, and she brought warmth and joy to the communities she loved. She was an active member of the Anglican Cathedral Church of the Epiphany in Columbia, SC, where her faith was an important part of her everyday life. Her love of Scottish heritage shone through her dedicated membership in the Robert Burns Society of the Midlands. Carol also proudly supported her husband through the Sovereign Military Order of the Temple of Jerusalem, and together they formed many cherished, lasting friendships.
Carol was passionate about animals, and she and her husband owned Redoubts' Kennel, where they bred and raised Scottish Terriers. She adored these spirited companions, and her love for them took her to national and international dog shows across the Eastern United States, Canada, and Bermuda—along the way, she made many enduring friendships. Carol also loved to gather people together; she was a gourmet cook who took great pleasure in preparing delicious meals for family and friends.
“May we live to learn and learn to live well”
