Carol Krieger Valovcin, 76, of Columbia, entered her eternal rest on Monday, November 4, 2024. Born on December 27, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Bernhard Anton and Mae Melton Krieger.
She was born in Chicago Illinois, moved to Greenville South Carolina as a child, and was a graduate of Berea High School. After high school she began her career in office administration, which took her to Texas where she met and married Kenneth Valovcin. After living in the Southwest for many years, she and her family returned to South Carolina in 2001 and settled in Columbia.
She was bright and friendly woman who loved deeply and was deeply loved. She marched to the beat of her own drum and had a beautifully unique spirit that was all her own. She loved bats, cats, sparkly clothing, and all things chocolate. The things she loved most were God, her children, her granddaughter, and her church. She took great joy in serving on the Altar Guild at Redeemer Lutheran church, and watching her grand daughter play the sousaphone in the Chapin High School marching band. She strived to embody the love and light she felt from Jesus Christ, and share that love with all those around her. She will be deeply missed. "Well done, good and faithful servant. "
Survivors include her daughter, Ashley Ferri (Michael); son, Eric Valovcin; granddaughter, Brynn Valovcin; and sister Merry Schneider (Bill).
The memorial service for Mrs. Valovcin will be held at 3 o'clock, Sunday, November 17th, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 525 St Andrews Rd, Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends prior to the service at 2 o'clock in the narthex of the church. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family and will announce further plans.
Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, ASPCA, and Bat Conservation International.
