Carola Maria Berger McWaters, 84, of Columbia, died Saturday, April 23, 2016. Born October 23, 1931, in Germany she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Gretel Berger.

Survivors include her daughter, Andrea M. Douglas (Gregg); sons, John D. McWaters (Ada), Gregory P. McWaters; grandchildren, Nathan, Adam, William, and Amanda McWaters, Jonathan and Alexander Douglas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Louie Newton McWaters; sons, Jeffrey Newton McWaters, and Charlie McWaters.

A graveside service will be held 2 o'clock, Thursday, April 28th at Greenlawn Memorial Park, Serenity Gardens, 6601 Windwan Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Athon Arant, Sr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the graveside. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, SC Chapter, 140 Stoneridge Drive, Suite 210, Columbia, SC 29210. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
