Carolyn Hughes Denmark, 86, of Columbia, died Tuesday, October 10, 2017. Born on January 4, 1931, in Savannah, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Pete and Flossie Mae Lanier Hughes. A loving and devoted military wife, Carolyn moved around the world to be with her husband. His assignment in Germany was among her favorite locations. After retirement Carolyn and her husband loved to camp in "The Bus". Carolyn was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and attended the church Respite Care program when she was able.

Survivors include her daughter, Arletta Wilson (Larry) of Eastover, SC; a brother, Arnold Hughes of Savannah, GA; and her devoted pet, Dusty. In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, James Alton Denmark; and sister, Grace Hughes.

The graveside service for Mrs. Denmark will be held 11 o'clock Wednesday, October 18th, at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Road, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
