Carolyn Rebecca Davis Florence, 82, of West Columbia, S.C. was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, August 12, 2021. Born May 17, 1939 in Columbia, S.C., Mrs. Florence was the daughter of the late Daniel Bruce Davis and the late Saluda Bell Starnes Davis.

Mrs. Florence was a feisty, strong-willed southern woman who loved her family fiercely. Her priority in life was ensuring the needs of her family were met. Her talent for preparing the best Sunday dinners could be matched by no one. She loved Jesus Christ and welcomed the day she would be in His presence and reunited with loved ones who had past.

Surviving are her husband Hugh T. Florence, daughters Teresa Stokes, Donna Stokes, Rita Hughes (Henry), sons Gary Stokes and Cody Carpenter; grandchildren Wendy Jeffcoat, Jennifer Perry (Carlos) Crystal Elledge, Gwendolyn Phillips (Roger), Madison Merlin (Alex); John Patrick "J.P." Jackson (Springfield, MO), Justin Wade Black; great grandchildren Tyler Bacon, Alexis Smith, Caleb Spring, Cameron Crosby, Mackenzie Smith, Hannah Lucas, Hunter Phillips, Leah Phillips, Abby Phillips, Jezalyn Merlin, and Lily and Mila Merlin expected November 2021.

Those who remain were blessed to call her wife, mother and grandmother. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers Larry Davis, Olin Davis, Dean Davis, and Richard "Dickie" Davis and her granddaughter Lisa Marie Crosby.

The Service to Celebrate the Life of Mrs. Florence will be held at 11 o'clock on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Shives Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203 with Pastor Erwin Threatt presiding. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 10 o'clock. Her burial will take place immediately following at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington, SC 29072.
