Mrs. Carolyn Hensley Smith, 71, of West Columbia, died on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Born on January 4, 1941, in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter to the late Herman Boyd Shealy and Authean Doris Stewart Shealy.

Survivors include sons, L. Michael Hensley and wife, Stacey, of West Columbia, Wesley B. Hensley of Columbia; sister, Delores Williams and husband, Jerry, of Springfield, SC; grandchildren, Brian M. Hensley, Megan L. Hensley, Raymond Waters, and Amelia Waters; nephews, Chan Shealy, Joseph Williams; niece, Kristina Williams; along with other loving family members. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Lee V. Smith, and brother, Richard Shealy.

A visitation for Mrs. Smith will be held Wednesday, October 17th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, from 6 until 8 o'clock. A funeral service will be held, 3 o'clock, Thursday, October 18th, at Elmwood Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with The Rev. Richard Rawls officiating. Burial will follow on the cemetery grounds.
