Carolyn Cloaninger Redd, 77, of Columbia, died on Saturday, February 13, 2021. Born on July 22, 1943, she was a daughter of the late L.S. and Virginia Smith Cloaninger. Mrs. Redd grew up in Horrell Hill, SC as a child and graduated from Lower Richland High School and Columbia College. She worked as the Librarian for Lower Richland High School and Hopkins Middle School. A lifelong member of Ashbury Memorial United Methodist Church, Mrs. Redd was also a member of the Lykesland Book Club that was founded in 1911. She enjoyed time at the beach, but most of all adored her two grandsons.
Survivors include her son, Ernie Redd (Kim); grandsons, Hampton and Manning Redd, all of Columbia; and brothers, Bob Cloaninger (Carolyn) and Bill Cloaninger (Sarah). She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, W. Rodney Redd.
The graveside service for Mrs. Redd will be held at 1 o'clock, Wednesday, February 17th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, with Rev. Cynthia Taylor officiating.
