Carolyn Berry Sharpe, of Columbia, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family at the age of 86. Carolyn was born in Pelion, SC, a daughter of the late Ethel Hazel Berry and Boyd Franklin Berry. She graduated from Eau Claire High School.

On January 18, 1956, Carolyn married the love of her life, J. William "Bill" Sharpe. She worked as a bookkeeper for Standard Parts before she started having children. She was a devoted wife and mother to four children. Carolyn had a strong faith and always put God first in her life. She served many years as an active member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. Carolyn helped her husband, Bill, run the family HVAC business as the Office manager for Standard Heating and A/C until she retired in 2001. Her other "love" was an auxiliary volunteer for the Baptist Hospital for over 35 years. Carolyn was such an amazing giver and she inspired those around her to strive to be the best they could possibly be. She never met a stranger and was always eager to help those in need and her laugh was very contagious.

Carolyn leaves behind her beloved husband J William "Bill" Sharpe; children, Melissa "Lisa" Starnes, James "Tim" Sharpe (Rebecca Sharpe) and Kimberly "Kim" Sharpe. She also leaves behind 6 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Davis, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her first-born son, Robert Michael Sharpe; brother, Boyd Berry Jr.; sister-in-law, Harriet Berry and son-in-law, Joel Starnes, Sr.

The funeral service for Mrs. Sharpe will be held at 11:30 o'clock Wednesday, December 28th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at 1 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive friends prior to the service at Shives Funeral Home beginning at 10:30 o'clock.
