Obituary
Mrs. Cecelia Sally Russek Kotchmar, 102, of Columbia, died on Monday, December 22, 2025. Born on July 5, 1923, in Middleport, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Russek.
Cecelia was one of twelve siblings, with two additional half-siblings, and grew up valuing the importance of family and togetherness. At the age of 20, she married George S. Kotchmar on September 5, 1943, in Middleport, Pennsylvania. Together they shared many wonderful years of marriage until his passing.
Cecelia was a devoted housewife, raising two sons. She also worked outside the home at a local grocery store, where she served as a dairy manager. She was an active and dedicated member of the Polish National Catholic Church, participating faithfully in church functions and parish life.
She is survived by her son, Dr. George S. Kothmar Jr.; her grandchildren, Kim Thweatt (John), Tracy McKay (Shane), and David Kothmar; and 7 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Dennis Kotchmar, and her siblings.
In honoring Mrs. Kotchmar's wishes, no formal services will be held at this time.
