Herman Cecil Byrd, 54, of Columbia, died Wednesday, June 3, 2020. Born in Cheraw, SC, he was a son of Mary Rogers Byrd-Terezakis and the late George Fate Byrd.

Cecil was a graduate of Irmo High School and a went on to attend culinary school. He was a chef in North Carolina and the Columbia are. As the comedian of the family Cecil always kept those around him laughing, even the doctors and nurses who cared for him in his final days. He was a beloved son, and brother and will be missed by his family and friends. He fought many battles but never gave up on his faith and hope. If he could, he would remind us to love one another and keep the faith.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his daughter, Jasmine Randall; siblings, brothers, Kenneth G. Byrd (Terri) of Columbia, Jeffery Fate Byrd ( Leanne) of Prosperity; nieces Danielle Byrd, and her daughter, and Hailey of Little Mountain and Kendra Byrd of Atlanta; uncles, Forest Byrd (Sue) and Dwight Byrd (Kathy) all of Columbia; aunts, Hilda Spease and Sue Byrd both of Cheraw; as well as a host of additional loving family.

A funeral service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, June 7th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with Bishop Anthony Blocker officiating. Mr. Byrd will lie in repose from 10 until 5 o'clock, Saturday at the funeral home. Burial will be held 2 o'clock, Saturday, June 13th at Chatham Hill Cemetery, Cheraw, SC.
