Charlene Rister Meetze, 73, of Blythewood, died on Monday, March 30, 2026. Born in Columbia, SC, on March 29, 1953, she was a daughter of the late Lee Ulysses and Jane Stewart Rister. Mrs. Meetze worked as a florist for over 30 years and later served as a receptionist at National Healthcare on Parklane Road for over 12 years. She enjoyed going to the beach, the mountains and particularly antiquing. Together with her husband, she enjoyed taking road trips to Charleston and the mountains for lunch. She loved her family deeply and also loved fishing and hunting.

Survivors include her husband, Charles D. Meetze; sons, Michael “Mike” Meetze (Sharon Grimstad) and Paul Meetze (Tiffani Meetze); daughter-in-love, Michelle Meetze; grandchildren, Kelsey Meetze Crout (Dylan), Ethan Meetze, Erin West (Shawn) and Channing Meetze; great-grandchildren, Hunter Crout and Blakely Crout; sisters, Vicki Fulmer and Jane Byrd. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shelley Meetze.

A graveside service for immediate family will be held at 2 o’clock, Thursday, April 2nd, in St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 105 Main Street, Blythewood. The family will receive friends at visitation on Wednesday evening from 5 until 7 o’clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
