Charles Adongo Abura, 62, of Orangeburg, SC, passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Mr. Abura was born June 24, 1961, in Kisumu, Kenya. He was the son of Bishop Musa Adongo Abura and Hellena Achola Adongo.

Charles was a fair and conscientious individual who prioritized accountability and integrity. He valued straightforwardness and doing things the right way,and was meticulous in his own work and in holding others accountable for their actions. He is fondly remembered for his generosity, kindness, and always uplifting and bringing joy to those around him.

A graduate of Kiambu Institute of Science & Technology, Kenya, Charles was passionate about working on electronic and automotive systems. He was an audiophile who designed pre-amplifiers. He enjoyed playing guitar in his free time.

He is survived by his wife, Conslata Ayieko Adongo; sons, Steve Onyango Adongo, Moses Adongo Abura, and Phelix Ochieng Abura; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Nekoye; grandchildren, Noela Maria and Davel Esther; brothers, Rev. Samuel Adongo, Wilson Adongo and Dr. Harun Adongo; sisters, Miriam Awich, Loice Odero and Rev. Rebecca Osiro, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Simon Adongo and sister-in-law Rose Adongo.

The funeral service for Mr. Abura will be held at 2 o'clock, Saturday, May 11th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends at the funeral home following the service until 4 o'clock.

Burial will be held in Kisumu, Kenya.
