Obituary

Funeral services for Charles "Chuck" Boesl will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, May 13, 2021, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 4440 Fort Jackson Boulevard, Columbia. Chuck Boesl passed away May 6, 2021, after a brief illness. Born in Buffalo, New York, he was son of the late Charles A. Boesl and Laura Smith Boesl. Chuck attended Bishop Fallon High School and Canisius College. Upon graduating Canisius College he served his country in the United States Army and then the National Guard as a field medic. After an honorable discharge he obtained both licensures in engine aircraft and microwave radio tower transmission. Chuck was a long-time employee of AT&T and a pioneer in the telecommunications industry. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Chuck lived a full life and had many passions including, woodworking, gardening, shooting, military history, vintage aircraft, flying and even a short stint as a race car driver where he was known as "Upside Down Charlie Brown". Although always active, his real love for life centered on his family where he will be remembered as a loving husband, devoted father, grandfather, and friend to many.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn Boesl; daughter Melinda Brownson; sons Peter Brownson (Heather), Christian Boesl (Emily), and Andrew Boesl (Natalie); and grandchildren Hayley, Hannah, and Zander Brownson and Anna, Evan, Logan, Gabriel, Grant, and Ethan Boesl; as well as great-grandchilren, Evelyn and Henry Bennett. In addition to his parents, Chuck was predeceased by his sister Elaine Boesl. The family would like to express appreciation for the kindness of the Lexington Medical Center nurses and doctors who cared for Chuck during his illness.
