Charles Lindbergh Duffie, Sr., 82, of Columbia, died Thursday, August 30, 2012. Born in Whitmire, SC, on May 31, 1930, he was a son of the late Jessie Duffie and Carrie Proctor Duffie. He was a member of Belmont Baptist Church, and currently attended North Columbia Church of God. Charles was a retired truck driver for Pilot Freight Carrier and ran his own car lot, RC Sales, on Hwy 321 for over 40 years.
Survivors include his sons, Charles L. Duffie, Jr. of Columbia, Robert G. Duffie of Blythewood; granddaughter, Kayla L. Duffie; sister, Edith McLean; and special friend, Sylvia Sanders. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his daughter, Doris Lynne Duffie; sister, Doris V. Byrd Lucas; and brother, Jessie C. Duffie.
The funeral service for Mr. Duffie will be held at 3:00 o'clock, Sunday, September 2, 2012 at North Columbia Church of God, 1004 Lorick Rd, Blythewood. The Rev. Walter E. Parham will officiate. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Tom Wood, Terry Davis, Mike Wilkes, Richard Lemox, John Owen and Keith Birdsell. The family will receive friends at the church prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock. Shives Funeral Home is assisting the family.
