Mr. Charles Martin Hill, 89, of Columbia, SC, died Sunday, September 1, 2024. He was born to the late Calvin Hicks Hill and the late Geraldine Martin Hill on April 12, 1935 in Bostic, NC.

He was a long-time member of North Trenholm Baptist Church. He graduated from UNC, Chapel Hill, with his bachelor's degree in business administration. He worked at Allstate Insurance Company as an insurance agent for 37 years. He was a member of VFW Post 641, the Fort Jackson Country Club, and Lexington Country Club. He loved dogs and loved to play golf and fish. He was also a member of the Dentsville Stompers Square Dancing Club and was a dance caller and square dance champion. He had a charitable heart and giving spirit. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Margaret Giles Hill; children, Bruce Hill (Pam) and Statia Huffstetler (Mike); grandchildren, Michael "Lee" Huffstetler, Jr., Tyler Edeburn, Lacey Beveridge (Chris), and Jessica Hill (Dalton); sister, Elizabeth "Libby" Carter; brother, Richard Hill (Pat); and daughter-in-law, Debbie Hill.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Oliver Gospel Mission in Columbia, SC, or Boys Farm in Newberry, SC.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024, at 2:00 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Extension, Columbia, SC. The family will receive guests an hour prior to the service at 1:00 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home. He will be laid to rest on Monday, September 9, at 12:00 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC.
