Charles George Kahaly, 77, of Columbia, died on Monday, April 28, 2025. Born on April 28, 1948, in Columbia, he was a son of the late Edward Anthony Kahaly and Rosalie George Kahaly. Mr. Kahaly was a US Navy veteran who honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. He graduated from the University of South Carolina where he received an associate's degree in criminal justice. He was a sergeant for 12 years at the Richland County Department of Corrections.

Charles loved collecting antiques, cooking, history, and was a movie buff, especially Turner Classic movies. He was passionate about animals and was an advocate for their well-being.

Survivors include his sister, Miriam K. Funchess of Jacksonville, FL; nephews, Alfred Funchess, Edward Anthony Kahaly, III, Daniel Kahaly, and Elias Kahaly; niece, Rosalie Kahaly; special friend and companion, Donna Turner and her daughter, Dawn Erwin, as well as a multitude of other family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Anthony Kahaly, Jr. (Rhonda); brother-in-law, Al Funchess, and niece, Emmie Funchess.

The service for Mr. Kahaly will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, May 17th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia, SC.

The family will receive guests prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 10 o'clock.

A private burial will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
