Charles O. "Buckshot " Martin, Jr., 62, of Columbia, died Thursday, August 9, 2018. Born April 10, 1956, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Charles O. Martin, Sr. and Ruth Jacqueline Lee Martin. Buckshot was a member of Midway Independent Methodist Church and worked as a truck driver for many years for the phone company. He loved being outdoors, especially when he had the opportunity to play golf, hunt, or fish. Buckshot enjoyed visiting with friends and he would always appear around dinner time to enjoy a meal. He was well known and loved in his community and will be greatly missed by the lives he touched.

Survivors include his brothers, Ronald Martin of Columbia, Ernest Franklin Martin (Delynn) of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Debra Hudson of Elgin, Nezzie Ruth Martin Peeples (Michael) of Batesburg, Samantha Martin of Columbia, Shelby Wilson of Columbia; eight nephews, four nieces; as well as 26 great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Vivian Martin.

The funeral service for Mr. Martin will be held at 4 o'clock, Monday, August 13th, at Midway Independent Methodist Church, 8481 Old Percival Rd, Columbia, SC, with Reverend Jerry Hacker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6 until 8 o'clock, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
