Obituary

Charles Bishop Wall III, 65, of Columbia, SC, passed away on April 30th, 2024. He was born on May 27th, 1958 in Bethesda, Maryland to the late Charles Bishop Wall, Jr. and Sally Ann Jungklas Wall.

Charles was a graduate of Irmo High School in 1976. Following high school, he graduated from the University of South Carolina with a bachelor's of science degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for NCR and later AT&T for many years before co-founding KryoTech and later Palmetto Telematics. Charles was a pioneer in computer technology, holding multiple US patents related to chip design and computer cooling technology. He was awarded AT&T's prestigious Eureka award for his technical contributions.

In his free time, Charles enjoyed sailing, camping, and playing the saxophone in various bands. He was an audiophile who designed speakers and pre-amplifiers. When younger, Charles enjoyed working on cars, especially restoring Corvairs. Charles was a dog lover and talented cook.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Janice Aidan Neighbor (Mike) of North Charleston; sisters, Mary Ellen Wall-Mitchell (Mac) of Irmo and Sara Jane Gard (Perry) of Peachtree City, GA; nieces, Erin Ann Gard and Mary Elise Gard; as well as a host of cousins and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at Pawleys Island in June. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the National Kidney Foundation in Charles' memory. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
