Charlie Jacobs, 85, of Columbia, widow of Dot Jacobs, has now been reunited with her in their heavenly home. They were married for 64 years until her death in 2015. Knowing that on Friday, November 16, 2018, he joined his Lord and Savior and reunited with our Mom brings comfort to the family. In addition to declining health over the last few years, he lived with a broken heart since the day we lost our mom. They both are and will be forever missed.
At 85 years of age, he leaves a legacy of kindness. Born in 1933 in Pontiac, to the late Glenn Thomas Jacobs and Leila Ray Jacobs, Charlie was the ninth child of twelve children. He was a simple man with simple needs and a humbling spirit. He was a person of great faith and a dedicated servant of our Lord. He was raised in the church and in his early adult life he served in several capacities and on many committees within the Baptist congregation. He was currently a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church and an honorary member of Harmony Baptist Church in Tookiedoo. He retired from the field of commercial lighting where he was self-employed as a manufacturer's representative. He had a passion for rabbit hunting, beagle dogs and fishing.
He is survived by his children, David Jacobs (Linda) of Elgin, SC, Paul Jacobs (Brenda) of Easley, SC, and Sissy Smith (Pat) of Elgin, SC; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild; two step-great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Donnie Jacobs (Lois); sisters, Juanita Lasley, Octavia Peake, Sara Peake, Thelma "Sister" Turpin; sister-in-law, Nona Jacobs. In addition to his wife, Dorothy Belle Bachelor Jacobs, he was predeceased by brothers, Elton Jacobs, Frank Jacobs and Gilbert Jacobs; sisters, Dot Porth, Louise Hughes and Tootsie Tidwell; sisters-in-law, Mary Jacobs and Nita Jacobs; brothers-in-law, Charlie Peake, Junior Peake, Roy Porth, Willis Tidwell, Floyd Lasley, Harold Hughes and John Turpin.
A special note of gratitude and love goes to the employees and staff at the Blake at Woodcreek Farms for their stellar care of our dad. They are unsung heroes. Also special appreciation goes to Compassionate Care Hospice.
