Cheryl Jean Tucker Polomsky, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home on August 4, 2025, at the age of 72. She was born on February 24, 1953, in Greenville, South Carolina.
She is survived by her children, Tony Sams (Melanie) and Sonny Sams (Lily); her beloved grandchildren Kane, Jasmine, Chelsea, Sonny Arturo, Anthony, Ethan, and Seth; and several cherished great-grandchildren. Cheryl was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Polomsky, in 2022.
A compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse, Cheryl spent much of her career caring for others, including her meaningful work with hospice patients toward the end of her professional life. Her gentle spirit, healing touch, and unwavering kindness touched countless lives. She was a steadfast and avid Christian, living her faith through acts of love, generosity, and service.
Cheryl had a deep affection for her fur babies, Cuddles and Snuggles, who brought her joy and comfort. She will be remembered for her boundless care for both people and animals, her willingness to help anyone in need, and the love she poured into her family.
Her life was a testament to the power of kindness, faith, and dedication. Though she will be deeply missed, her legacy of compassion will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19, 2025, from 10 until 12 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC 29223, for family and friends to gather. A Graveside service will follow the visitation at 1 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229.
