Chief Isaac Levern Cribb, US Navy (Ret.), 79, of Columbia, died Friday, November 18, 2016. Born June 17, 1937 in Conway, he was a son of the late George and Alma Neely Cribb.
Chief Cribb retired from the US Navy after 22 years of service.
He served on several destroyers and munitions ships and on the admiral's staff for COMNAVAIRLANT as a career counselor. After he retired, he worked in several fields including owning an automotive repair shop, forklift maintenance, and diesel instructor and training coordinator for a major company in Miami, Florida. Later, he opened a transmission repair shop from which he retired. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Jamil Temple, and Dentsville Lodge 398 (Freemason). He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Brenda Kendall Cribb; children, Isaac Levern Cribb Jr., Pennie Lynne Cribb Khan (Ghyas), Pamela Anne Cribb, and Brian Keith Cribb (Cara); grandchildren, Chelsie Adele Cribb, Ayesha Fatima Khan, and Samir Uddin Khan; siblings, Ruth Huggins (Charles), Wendel Cribb, Alma Jean Griggs (J.D.), Wayne Cribb (Donna), Leo Cribb, and David Anthony Cribb (Carolyn); as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Lyla Rebecca Cribb Braxton.
A funeral service will be held 12:30 o'clock, Friday, November 25th in the chapel of St. Andrews Baptist Church, 230 Bush River Road, Columbia, with Dr. Ronald "Dee" Vaughn officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Wednesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
