Christine Cannon Darnell, 92, of Columbia, died Sunday, September 14, 2014. Born in Americus, GA on June 11, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Perry Robert Cannon and Nancy Agnes McNeal. A member of College Place United Methodist Church, Mrs. Darnell was a talented seamstress who also enjoyed crocheting. A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she will be dearly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Sandvig (Hans), Donna Ryan (Mark); a son, Charles "Chuck" Darnell (Buffy); grandchildren, Leslie Price (Jeff), Lauren Barnhardt (Eli Moses), Kelly McKay (Brad), Alex Spinks (Katie); great-grandchildren, Koty, Tyler, Vinson, Jaxon, Christopher and Emmalyn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Lee "Diz" Darnell and sister, Nettie Claire Montgomery.

The service for Mrs. Darnell will be held at 2 o'clock, Thursday, September 18th at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia, with The Rev. Jackie Utley officiating. Burial will follow in Woodridge Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1 o'clock.
