Christine Welch Elkin Hamiter, 96, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, March 16th. Born in Columbia, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Ola Welch.
Mrs. Hamiter is survived by her daughters, Barbara "Tussy" Crumbo (Chuck), and Deta Elkin; daughter-in-law, Norma P. Elkin; her grandchildren, Amy Holcombe Haschke (Ralph), Christopher John Elkin (Dawn), Katie Heller Hyman (Richard), John Graham Heller, Emily Camp Hinson (Greg) and Jenny Camp Vickers (Jack); and twelve great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Allen Elkin; second husband, John Hamiter; and her son, Ben Allen Elkin.

The service for Mrs. Hamiter will be held at 4 o'clock, Saturday, March 25th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia.
