Christopher Peter Aluah, 44, of Columbia and Ghana, West Africa, died Wednesday, March 11, 2015. Born in Navrongo, Ghana, he was a son of Victoria Abakane Akolgo Yitah and the late Peter Aluah Yitah. Christopher was attending Shandon Baptist Church, and the University of South Carolina's School of Public Health to receive his doctorate in health promotion, education and behavior. He had previously received his Master's in Social Work and Public Health from USC. Christopher enjoyed working with people and promoting public health and awareness.
Survivors include his wife, Gifty Bazania; children, Wilbur, Goody and Wepiah Yitah; his mother; and siblings, Helen, William, Patricia and Lucy Yitah, all of Ghana.
A memorial service for Mr. Aluah will be held 6 o'clock, Sunday, March 15th, at USC's Rutledge Chapel on the Horseshoe, with Fr. Bernard Oniwe officiating. The family will receive friends from 2 until 5 o'clock, Sunday afternoon, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia. Burial will follow in Ghana.
