It is with great sadness that we announce that Christopher P. Areheart, age 70, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 21, 2025. His wife of 34 years, Rebecca "Becky" Lee Areheart, family, friends and all that knew Chris over the years are devastated by his passing.

Chris was born in Columbia, South Carolina on September 7, 1954, to James Lee Areheart and Georgie O'Neil Lee Areheart, who predeceased him. He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School. For most of his working life, he was an HVAC technician. He worked for Harris Integrated Solutions for 21 years before retiring in 2018.

He is survived by his wife Becky; brother, James L. Areheart, Jr.; sister, Rebecca Areheart; and his lifelong friend and "brother from another mother," Brock Bannister. Chris also loved and was devoted to his nephew Barry Aiken (predeceased); niece Tina Poindexter (Jim); great nieces, Madison and Hembree Poindexter; and great nephew, Jake Poindexter; and several loved great grand nieces and nephews. He was beloved by his close family members, Sherry Willis, Rhonda Hawkins, Robin McElhannon (John), Sabrina Aiken, Darby Aiken, Caitlin Aiken and Bella Aiken.
Chris and Becky loved to travel and explore new places. He enjoyed bird watching, gardening and grilling his fall-off-the-bone ribs for family and friends. Chris also left behind three loving fur babies, Coco, Jack and his beloved Jill, who accompanied him on daily walks at the Red Bank Arena.

A celebration of Chris' life will be held Friday, April 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. at Red Bank Sports Complex, 1159 Nazareth Road in Lexington. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
