Cleatis Campbell Walker, 92, passed away peacefully Friday, September 30, 2016. Born October 22, 1923, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Prue Benson and Cyrena Pearson Campbell.
Mrs. Walker was a registered nurse for 45 years. She graduated from the SC Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1943 and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Nursing Administration from the University of South Carolina. During her career, she served as Director of Nursing for SC Baptist Hospital and as Director of the University of South Carolina Student Health Center.
Mrs. Walker was a member of Eau Claire Baptist Church for 68 years serving in many leadership roles on various committees as well as teaching Sunday School for children and adult women. She has been a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church since 2009.
Surviving are her sons, Robert A. Walker, Jr., his wife Sherry, and William E. Walker, his wife Mary; grandchildren, D. Benson Walker, M.D., his wife Jennifer, Tiffany Rabon, Lindsay Starkey, her husband Rob; great-grandchildren, Hunter Rabon, Emily Coppney, Walker Coppney, Claire Starkey, Alex Walker and Jocelyn Walker. Also surviving is her sister, Madelyn Knight and her husband Glen as well as nieces and nephews. Mrs. Walker was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Walker; her husband, Robert A. Walker, Sr.; sisters, Anita Reed, her husband Sam, and Pruella Compton, her husband Jimmy.
A service will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, October 8th, in Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum, 138 Corley Mill Road, Lexington.
