Cleo Bayne Bruner, 80, died peacefully with family by her side on Thursday, September 11, 2014. Born in Inman, SC on April 19, 1934, she was a daughter of the late George and Nancy Darby Bayne. Mrs. Bruner was an active member of Petersen Presbyterian Church and a 1953 graduate of Dreher. She also worked for over 25 years at Cracker Barrel.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, John R. "Red" Bruner, Sr.; sons, John R. Bruner, Jr. (Judy) of Columbia, Paul Bruner (Mary) of Elgin; daughters, Nancy Bourgoin (Ralph) of Elgin, Donna Dvorak (David) of St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Andrea, Amelia and Kenny; sister, Helen E. Whitaker of Camden; as well as several nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Paul, Clyde and Donald Bayne.
The funeral service for Mrs. Bruner will be 11 o'clock, Monday, September 15th at Petersen Presbyterian Church with Jim Blackwelder, CRE officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 o'clock Sunday afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
