Clifford H. Pearce, 85, of Columbia, died Thursday, October 15, 2015. Born July 17, 1930 in Philadelphia, PA, he was a son of the late Clara Thomas Pearce and Al Pearce. Cliff attended St. Joseph Catholic Church and was retired from Richland County. He was a US Army veteran and received a Purple Heart for injuries sustained while serving in Korea. Cliff was a member of the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Kay McCormick Pearce; a daughter, Angela (Michael) Bryant of Aiken; sons, Jon Pearce of Summerville, and Edward (Francine) Pearce of Blythewood; step-daughter, Katie Wright of West Columbia; grandchildren, Matthew (Brittany) Pearce, Charles Pearce, Eric (Sharron) Miles, and Alexander Bryant; great-grandson, Weston Miles; great-granddaughter, Lillian Pearce; brother, Ned Pearce of Philadelphia, PA; aunt, Fran Bailey; as well as two very special nieces, Ree Smith, and Susan Crotts. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Miles; and a step-brother and sister, John (Ettie) Pearce.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock, Saturday evening, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia. A private burial will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 78517, Topeka, KS 66675.
