Cloyd E. Gibler

Cloyd Edwin Gibler, 57, of Blythewood, died on Friday, August 21, 2026. Born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on December 2,1968, he was a son of Mary Hung Gibler and the late Jack Lavern Gibler.

Survivors include his wife, Amy Swanson Gibler; his children, DJ (Rick) Davis, Alex (Meredith) Gibler, Tansy (Grace Jeffress) Gibler, and Gavin (Camara) Connell; his grandchildren, Heidi, Charlie, Colten, and Ember; his brother Jon Gibler; and his mother, Mary Gibler.

He was affiliated with NCCOG and was known to many at the Church as a solid figure of comfort– bringing a calm demeanor, cheer, and plenty of homemade food. He won an award there for best chili last year. One of his many varied, and sometimes subtle, ways to love was through cooking for others.

Cloyd had many interests, key amongst those were a good time with family and friends, being outside (biking, hackysack), and puttering in his garage. The garage was his domain and where you would often find him tinkering with projects, big and small. If anyone could, he embodied an analytically creative spirit, though he wouldn’t say the same if you asked.

He could be surprising. Though a tall man, he was often quiet. Though often serious, he was quick to make a funny face. And though reserved in what he shared, when you learned of his eclectic taste in movies and music, you couldn’t help being charmed, if a little perplexed.
He will be deeply missed.

A celebration of life for friends and family will be held next spring in Hillsdale, MI. More information to come.
