Lexington – Clyde Hoey Smith, 90, of Lexington, died Monday, July 10, 2017. Born in Kings Mountain, NC on June 30, 1927, he was a son of the late William Franklin and Eva Odessa Carr Smith. Mr. Smith was a US Army Veteran having served in World War II, Vietnam, Korea, and was awarded the Bronze Star. He was a member of the Military History Club and attended Incarnation Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Ivey D. Smith of Lexington; a son, Clyde Smith, Jr. of Irving, TX; grand daughter, Elizabeth McWilliams (Jesse); and great grandson, Douglas McWilliams all of Lexington, SC. In addition to his parents and siblings, Mr. Smith is preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Dehler Smith.
A visitation for Mr. Smith will be held from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road, Columbia. Burial will be in Florence National Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to Incarnation Lutheran Church, 3005 Devine St., Columbia 29205.
