Obituary

Craig Charles Stoxen, 48, of Rock Hill, and formerly of Columbia, died Tuesday, February, 5, 2013. Born in Burlington, Wisconsin, he was a son of Harry A. "Bud" Stoxen and the late Ferne A. Mesmer Stoxen. Craig graduated from Winona State University, Class of 1988. Following graduation he joined the Lutheran Volunteer Corps. While serving the Food Bank of Delaware, Craig met his future wife, Christine. They married on July 7, 1990. While in Delaware, he also worked for Lutheran Social Services in DE. Craig and Christine moved to Columbia in 1996, where he worked for Planned Parenthood for a short time before Craig joined the SC Autism Society as their President and CEO. During his stay in Columbia, Craig received his Master of Arts in Religion from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary. Craig enjoyed photography, traveling, woodworking and cooking. He served on the board of directors of The Babcock Center and was a member of Grace Lutheran Church of Rock Hill, where Christine serves as pastor.

Survivors include his wife, Christine V. DeWerth Stoxen; sons, Zachary Charles Stoxen and Nicholas Christian Stoxen, all of Rock Hill; father, Harry A. "Bud" Stoxen of Silver Lake, WI; siblings, Cheryl (Danny) Gould, Austin Stoxen, and Mike Stoxen all of Silver Lake, WI, Nancy (Wayne Dowell) Millhouse of Salem, WI, and Craig's twin, Gregg Stoxen of Fox Lake, IL; sisters-in-law, Amy DeWerth-Pallmeyer of Wallingford, PA and Julie DeWerth of Havertown, PA; nieces and nephews, Trisha Larson, Steve (Kimberley) Stoxen, Jamie (Butch) DeBraccio, Jason Stoxen, and Kimberly Millhouse.

The memorial service for Mr. Stoxen will be held 1 o'clock, Monday, February 11th, at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, 1301 Richland St, Columbia. The Rev. Dr. Herman R. Yoos, III, Bishop, The Rev. Melvin E. Amundson and The Rev. Virginia S. Aebischer will be officiating. The family will greet friends following the service.
