Curtis Ellis Branham, 87, of Blythewood, SC, transitioned to his heavenly home on Sunday, June 29, 2025. He was born on November 29, 1937 to the late Ben Tillman and Dora Barfield Branham. Curtis was a loving husband, father and grandfather, and a faithful member of Killian Baptist Church.
A graduate of Blythewood High School, Curtis married the love of his life, the late Mattie E. Branham, on May 30, 1959. As a teenager, Curtis worked at Wilson's grocery store in Blythewood. He later spent several years employed at Southern Plastics in Columbia. He retired from DuPont in Lugoff after 35 years of employment. During that time he served on the Board of Directors at Mid Carolina Credit Union, with several terms as president.
In his spare time he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, traveling, woodworking, welding, gardening and volunteering in various organizations.
As an active member of Killian Baptist Church, Curtis served in many capacities, including as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, Brotherhood, Senior Adult and Hostess committee as well as various other committees. He enjoyed trips with the Senior Adults to the mountains and the beach as well as those with the youth group. Curtis was also an active member of the Lions Club and Gideons International. He enjoyed volunteering with the SC WMU for many years and attending Missionary Parents fellowships.
Curtis is survived by his children Tony (Dorcas) Branham, Cathy (Steve) Warren, Carl (Michelle) Branham, and Teresa (Ted) Xanthakis; grandchildren Ryan (Jenna) Warren, Katie (Andrew) Royson, Logan Branham (Nicole), Daniel (Grace) Branham, Caleb (Bailey) Branham, Kinzey Branham, Noah and Michael Xanthakis, and one great-granddaughter, Ransom Warren.

The funeral service for Mr. Branham will be held at 4 o'clock, Saturday, July 5th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will follow in Killian Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 3 o'clock.
