Curtis Lee Ellington, 73, of Columbia, died Thursday, August 5, 2021. Born on March 14, 1948, in Lexington, SC, he was a son of the late Kenneth Burl and Hazel Virginia Sharpe Ellington and married to Treasha Anne Wright Ellington for 40 years.
Curtis was employed for over 25 years with Palmetto Metal Products and then worked with Palmetto Hardware. He earned numerous awards over his 54 years of experience in the door and hardware industry, including, Architectural Hardware consultant in 1991, Board-certified with the Door and Hardware Institute in 1989, and other awards as an outstanding architectural hardware consultant. Curtis was a member of Crescent Hill Baptist Church for over 30 years, where he served on the Deacon Board and various other committees.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son, Kevin Meetze; daughters, Tara Burris (James), April Rowe; his pride and joy granddaughter, Tegan; grandsons, Bobby Lee, Zachary, DJ, Matthew, brother, Kenneth B. Ellington of Fernandina Beach; sisters, Hazel Kyzer, Millie Morgan, both of Lexington, SC, and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and godparents, Low and Anne Davis.
A service will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, August 10th, at Crescent Hill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ben Newman officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 6 until 8 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext.
