Curtis Baker Haig, Jr., 75, of Blythewood, died Tuesday, February 20, 2018. Born in New York on March 11, 1942, he was the son of the late Curtis Baker and Leone Haig. Mr. Haig was a "Three-Beader" Boy Scouts of America, past director of the New Orleans Jaycees, a member of the Civilian Emergency Response Team, Blythewood and a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon. After serving 35 years in the U.S. Army he retired as a Sergeant Major. He attended The Taft School, Watertown, CT and received his B.S. from Boston University and his M.A. from Webster University, St. Louis, MO. He was also Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Mass Beta Upsilon chapter. His most recent employment was Poll Manager for Richland County Elections.
He is survived by his wife, Rose "Sam" Keith Haig; children, Curtis Keith Haig (Alisha), Jason Mark Haig (Gina), and Nancy Jane Haig; and grandchildren, Evan Mark Haig, Kayley Elizabeth Haig, and Caroline Victoria Haig.
The service for Mr. Haig will be held at 1:30 o'clock on Monday, February 26th at Northeast Presbyterian Church with Dr. George D. Crow III officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 12:30 o'clock in the church atrium. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is in charge.
